With just weeks until Halloween, it’s probably about time to start thinking about Halloween costumes, if you haven’t already. You could head to the store and check their supply, but sometimes it’s even more fun if you get to work on creating your own costumes. Here are some easy, do it yourself Halloween costumes that you can start gathering the supplies to create so you are ready for work parties, neighborhood gatherings and trick or treat adventures!
Salt & Pepper: One dresses in white, the other in gray or black. Don’t forget to create some hats! A simple hat could just be disposable round pans, with holes cut in it or circles of construction paper attached. You could also cut out an S and P to tape to your fronts.
Pirates: Grab a bandana and maybe an eyepatch. You can go all-out with the rest of the outfit or piece together a simple pirate costume with what you already own. You can add a pirate’s hate or a sword if you wish, or consider a hook hand!
For the Kids
Arthur: From the kids’s cartoon, you can simply grab some jeans, a yellow sweater, fake glasses and a headband with brown round aardvark ears attached (consider some pink inside the brown, maybe even with some glitter for an added touch!).
Cat: Dress the kiddo in just about any color you want and add a set of cat ears, which are available at most stores with costumes for pretty cheap (maybe even a local dollar store!). For a black cat, just dress in all black; a tuxedo cat can be dressed in black and white; a tabby cat can be dressed in orange. Don’t forget to draw on some whiskers!
Pumpkin: A simple costume to make for smaller children; just grab a plain orange onesie and cut out black construction paper to make the eyes, nose and mouth of your pumpkin!
Ghost: Depending on the age and preferences of your children, a ghost costume can be created out of a white sheet thrown over their heads, with holes cut out for eyes; or it can a white onesie, T-shirt or full outfit with a ghost like face taped to the front (eyes and maybe a mouth).
